Women in Holy Quran: 10 Verses

1. { وَمِنْ ءَايَاتِهِ أَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجَاً لِتَسْكُنَوا إِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ مِوَدَّةً وَرَحْمَةً إِنْ فِي ذَلِكَ لآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ } . (سورة الروم ، آية : 21 )

21. And among His Signs is this that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.

2-3 . { جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ يَدْخُلُونَهَا وَمَنْ صَلَحَ مِنْ ءَابَائِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّاتِهِمْ وَالمَلائِكَةُ يَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ كُلٍّ بَابٍ (23)

سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَى الدَّارِ . (سورة الرعد ، آية: 23 ، 24 )

23. Gardens of perpetual bliss: they shall enter there, as well as the righteous among their fathers, their spouses, and their offspring: and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation):

24. "Peace unto you for that ye persevered in patience! Now how excellent is the final home!"

4. { إِنَّ المُسْلِمِينَ وَالمُسْلِمَاتِ وَالمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَالمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَالقَانِتِيْنَ وَالقَانِتَاتِ وَالصَّادِقِيْنَ وَالصَّادِقَاتِ وَالخَاشِعِيْنَ وَالخَاشِعَاتِ وَالمُتَصَدِّقِيْنَ وَالمُتَصَدِّقَاتِ وَالصَّائِمِيْنَ وَالصَّائِمَاتِ وَالحَافِظِيْنَ فُرُوْجَهُمْ وَالحَافِظَاتِ وَالذَّاكِرِيْنَ اللهَ كَثِيْراً وَالذَّاكِرَاتِ أَعَدَّ اللهُ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرَاً عَظِيْمَاً } . (سورة الأحزاب ، آية : 35 )

35. For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.

5. { يَاأَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لأَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَآءِ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ يُدْنِيْنَ عَلَيْهِنََّ مِنْ جَلابِيْبِهِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَنْ يُعْرَفْنَ فَلا يُؤْذَيْنَ وَكَانَ اللهُ غَفُوراً رَحِيْماً } . (سورة الأحزاب ، آية : 59 )

59. O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful.

6-7. { وَقُلْ لِلمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوْجَهُنَّ وَلا يُبْدِيْنَ زِيْنَتَهُنَّ إِلاَّ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَليَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَى جُيُوْبِهِنَّ وَلا يُبْدِيْنَ زِيْنَتَهُنَّ إِلاَّ لِبُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ أَوْ ءَابَائِهِنَّ أَوَ آبَاءِ بُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ أَوْ أَبْنَائِهِنَّ أَوْ أَبْنَاءِ بُعُوْلَتِهِنَّ أَوْ إِخْوَانِهِنَّ أَوْ بَنِي إِخْوَانِهِنَّ أَوْ بَنِي أَخَوَاتِهِنَّ أَوْ نِسَائِهِنَّ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُهُنَّ أَوْ التَّابِعِيْنَ غَيْرِ أُوْلِي الإِرْبَةِ مِنْ الرِّجَالِ أَوْ الطِّفْلِ الذِيْنَ لَمْ يَظْهَرُوا عَلَى عَوْرَاتِ النِّسَاءِ وَلا يَضْرِبْنَ بِأَرْجُلِهِنَّ لِيُعْلَمَ مَا يُخْفِيْنَ مِنْ زِيْنَتِهِنَّ وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللهِ جَمِيعاً أَيُّهَا المُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ (31)

وَأَنْكِحُوا الأَيَامَى مِنْكُمْ وَالصَّالِحِيْنَ مِنْ عِبَادِكُمْ وَإِمَائِكُمْ إِنْ يَكُونُوا فُقَرَآءَ يُغْنِهِمْ اللهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَاللَّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ (32)

وَلْيَسْتَعْفِفِ الَّذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ نِكَاحًا حَتَّى يُغْنِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَالَّذِينَ يَبْتَغُونَ الْكِتَابَ مِمَّا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ فَكَاتِبُوهُمْ إِنْ عَلِمْتُمْ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا وَآَتُوهُمْ مِنْ مَالِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي آَتَاكُمْ وَلَا تُكْرِهُوا فَتَيَاتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَاءِ إِنْ أَرَدْنَ تَحَصُّنًا لِتَبْتَغُوا عَرَضَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَمَنْ يُكْرِهُّنَّ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ مِنْ بَعْدِ إِكْرَاهِهِنَّ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ } . (سورة النور ، آية : 31 ـ 33 )

31. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.

32. Marry those among you who are single, or the virtuous ones among yourselves, male or female: if they are in poverty, Allah will give them means out of His grace: for Allah encompassed all, and he known all things.

33. Let those who find not the wherewithal for marriage keep themselves chaste, until Allah gives them means out of His grace. And if any of your slaves ask for a deed in writing (to enable them to earn their freedom for a certain sum), give them such a deed if ye know any good in them: yea, give them something yourselves out of the means which Allah has given to you. But force not your maids to prostitution when they desire chastity, in order that ye may make a gain in the goods of this life. But if anyone compels them, yet, after such compulsion, is Allah, Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (to them),

8-9. { وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلاَّ تُقْسِطُوا فِي اليَتَامَى فَانْكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنْ النِّسَآءِ مَثْنَى وَثُلاثَ وَرُبَاعَ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَنْ لا تَعْدِلُوا فَوَاحِدَةً أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَنْ لا تَعُولُوا (8)

وَءَاتُوا النِّسَآءَ صَدُقَاتِهِنَّ نِحْلَةً فَإِنْ طِبْنَ لَكُمْ عَنْ شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ نَفْسَاً فَكُلُوْهُ هَنِيْئاً مَرِيْئاً } . (سورة النساء ، آية: 3 ، 4 )

"If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, Marry women of your choice, Two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.

And give the women (on marriage) their dower as a free gift; but if they, of their own good pleasure, remit any part of it to you, Take it and enjoy it with right good cheer."

10. { لِلرِّجَالِ نَصِيْبٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الوَالِدَانِ وَالأَقْرَبُونَ وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيْبٌ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الوَالِدَانِ وَالأَقْرَبُونَ مِمَّا قَلَّ مِنْهُ أَوْ كَثُرَ نَصِيْبَاً مَفْرُوضَاً } . (سورة النساء ، آية: 7 ) .

"From what is left by parents and those nearest related there is a share for men and a share for women, whether the property be small or large,-a determinate share."
